Justin in Birmingham; Final UK Open Qualifiers

Justin Pipe final winner austria

It was a great weekend last week, can JP keep that form going this weekend? (pic Peter Holczer)

Justin headed to Birmingham for the final two Speedy Services UK Open qualifiers knowing that he was already safely qualified, and has done well enough to already be able to rest and enjoy Thursday, as he has qualified high enough to start his conquest on the Friday in Bolton.

Another huge turnout at the NIA means more tough qualifying rounds…

Prelim: Justin Pipe 6-2 Stephen Hardy
Round 1: James Wade 6-5 Justin Pipe

Revenge for Wade for his loss in last week’s final.  James played well – and won in a tight game… I’m sure JP would accept losing to him this week rather than last!  There’s still Sunday!

Sunday Results

Wes and Justin NIA 2012

Wes and Justin after their final at the NIA, Birmingham.

Prelim:  Justin Pipe 6-3 Chris Mason
Round 1: Justin Pipe 6-2 John Henderson
Round 2:  Justin Pipe 6-4 Scott Rand
Round 3:  Justin Pipe 6-3 Jon Bott
Round 4:  Justin Pipe 6-4 Colin Osborne
1/4 Finals: Justin Pipe 6-3 James Hubbard
Semi final:  Justin Pipe 6-0 Joe Cullen
Final:  Wes Newton 6-2 Justin Pipe

First game a tough one, as JP and Chris a good friends, and that has to be put away while on the oche – game head on.  What a run again today, and while it didn’t have as many ‘top 10′ players compared to last week, it is just as big an accomplishment, with 7 games won just to get into the final.  Wes played a blinder in the final, not giving Justin many chances.

£3,000 from the weekend, which should keep Justin right at the top of the PC OOM, and he may even gain a spot or two in the world rankings when they are released!

Video from the Austria Euro Tour Event – Including JP’s Final

We’ve been sent a a great video from the Austrian Open by the great photographer and darts fan Peter Holczer, which shows the very first European Tour event which was won by Justin of course in a final vs James Wade.

The video shows the large noisy crowd, player walk-ons, and ends with the Justin vs James Wade final and celebrations.  Justin will take heart from the fact it was closer to a TV event than an floor tournament, which is great experience for him.

Finals Day in Austria; Justin Pipe Wins in Tough Day of Darts

Justin Pipe with trophy

Justin Pipe with James Wade and his winners trophy

What a long weekend for The Force!  The cream of the PDC went to Austria to take part in the European Tour, and our man Justin came away with the top prize after beating the best it had to offer!  This may lift Justin into the top 16 in the world!

Round 3: Justin Pipe 6-2 Gary Anderson

In a great game, Justin averaged just over 100 to beat his friend Gary Anderson in the third round in the Austrian European Tour.

The Force played in front of a big crowd in the venue near Vienna, and now goes into the 1/4 finals against youthful talent Joe Cullen, who himself beat veteren Mark Walsh earlier in the day.

1/4 Final: Justin Pipe 6-4 Joe Cullen

Justin wins a close game against the youthful talent Cullen.  Onto the Semi finals now!

Semi Final:  Justin Pipe 6-3 Raymond van Barneveld

Justin wins in another amazing high quality game.  at 5-2 up, Barney had to hit a 170 checkout and 12 darter leg just to stay in the game!  But it wasn’t enough, and the final and at least £7,500 is now Justins!   107.42 average in that game for JP!

Final:  Justin Pipe 5-3 James Wade

Justin has to take out 106 in the first leg to hold, with Wade on 4 after 9 darts!  Wade breaks for 3-2… then Justin breaks straight back 3-3.  At 4-3 up Justin breaks for a 2nd time, 5-3 and needing to hold for the big win!  JP misses the bull for a 170 checkout, and  hits 25.

Justin headed to Austria for the first European Tour event of the year, joining the best of the PDC in the hunt for the £15,000 top prize.

A tough first round draw saw Justin take on the local player, Mensur Suljovic, in front of a large number of fans on the main stage.  The winner takes £1,000 minimum from the event just for getting to round 2, so the pressure was on.

Round 1: Justin Pipe 6-2 Mensur Suljovic

Round 2: Justin Pipe 6-4 Gino Vos

Round 3: Justin Pipe v Gary Anderson (to be played Sunday afternoon)

Justin Pipe Results from Barnsley UK Open Qualifiers 5&6

Speedy services uk openJustin travelled to Barnsley this weekend for the 5th and 6th UK Open qualifiers, with his place already sealed, but the money required to miss the dangerous early rounds still needed.  Justin really wants to make enough ranking £’s to be able to relax on the first day of Bolton and soak up the atmosphere rather than have to play.

Saturday Results

Round 1:  Justin Pipe 6-1 Stefanie Luck
Round 2:  Justin Pipe 6-1 Aaron Turner
Round 3:  Justin Pipe 6-3 Shaun Griffiths
Round 4:  Justin Pipe 6-3 Andy Hamilton
1/4 Final:  Jamie Caven 6-5 Justin Pipe

A great day – with Justin knowing the £1,000 earned would see him reach his goal of starting on day 2 of the UK Open finals in Bolton.   Some great games to0 – Andy Hamilton unfortunately missed 6 darts at d14 to even the game, at a point where he was really hitting the 180′s.  That changed the game, and Justin held his nerve to beat Andy – who was quick to congratulate him.   Next up was Jamie Caven, who always has great games with Justin – usually going to the wire.  There was little between them, with both players breaking during the game.  This time it was Jabba’s turn to win, in another 6-5.

Sunday’s Games

Round 1:  Justin Pipe 6-2 Paul Rowley
Round 2:  Justin Pipe 6-3 Wayne Jones
Round 3:  Justin Pipe 2-6 James Wade

A tougher draw today, with Justin facing floor veteran Wayne Jones, and then good friend and in form James Wade, who won through the board final.

Target hit for the weekend though, with £1,400 won.  We’ll see Justin start his UK Open campaign on the Friday night in Bolton.  If you’ve bought tickets for Thursday, keep an eye out, as you may just run into Justin watching some games.

Justin in the Fast Lane at South West Karting

Justin took his son Coby along to something a little faster than his usual darts game… 45MPH karting at his local “South West Karting“.   Justin and Coby went along with a family with speed in their blood, the racing Threlfalls!   Harry Threlfall is one of the top young rally drivers in the UK, and sis Molly and dad Mike ain’t bad :)  But it was the youngest Alfie who had the fastest lap of the night!

Justin had one thing to say after the experience…  “South West Karting – THE NUTS!

Pictured is Justin with Matt the owner – who may have been surprised to see Justin on the oche after seeing him tear up his track!

Luckily there were no injuries – as Justin heads off to Barnsley this weekend for two more days on the PDC Pro Tour – another two UK Open qualifiers to be contested.  Justin has already made Bolton, but if he makes enough £’s, he’ll skip the early rounds and start on the Friday rather than Thursday.
